Description
100% Pure Wood-Pressed Kalonji Oil (Black Seed Oil / Nigella Sativa)
Made from a single ingredient: pure, high-grade Nigella sativa (Kalonji) seeds.
Extracted using traditional slow wooden churns (lakdi ghani), this oil undergoes zero heat generation and zero chemical processing. Because the wooden press keeps the extraction at ambient temperatures, delicate bioactive compounds like Thymoquinone (TQ), essential fatty acids, and natural antioxidants remain completely intact.
The authentic purity of this oil is immediately evident in its physical characteristics:
- Deep, Inky Black Color: Indicates raw, unbleached extraction with no artificial clarifying agents.
- Sharp, Pungent Herbal Aroma: The natural hallmark of potent, active Thymoquinone content.
- Rich, Dense Viscosity: Proves it is 100% pure seed extract with zero carrier oils or mineral oil fillers.
Ingredients
- 100% Pure Wood-Pressed Kalonji Seed Oil (Nigella sativa / Black Seed Oil)
- Zero additives, carrier oils, chemical solvents, preservatives, or artificial fragrances.
Shelf Life
- Unopened: 12 months from the date of manufacture / packaging.
- Once Opened: Best used within 6 months for maximum potency of active compounds (like Thymoquinone) and fresh herbal aroma

Roots in Satara: How We Partnered with Vandan Agro for Pure Wood-Pressed Oils
A few years ago, when personal health challenges demanded a return to pure, unadulterated food, our partner at Vandan Agro saw the real gap in everyday cooking oils. Modern, highly processed oils lacked the nourishment traditional food once provided. After spending five years working closely in the oil industry and understanding the machinery and processing methods, he chose a different path—reviving the traditional wooden press (lakdi ghani).
He set up his extraction unit right here in Satara district, just a short distance from our warehouse.
His setup does more than press oil. By establishing the unit in the village, he created direct, steady employment for local villagers, supporting rural livelihoods while bringing back the slow, traditional practices he grew up with. Every batch—from premium-grade almond to groundnut, sunflower, mustard, and coconut—is crushed using heavy wooden pestles at ambient room temperatures.
When we at Past in Present Agro first saw his uncompromising focus on raw seed quality and clean extraction, partnering was an obvious choice.
Over the years, this shared commitment has reached homes across India. That consistency shows in the trust of our community: batch after batch, year after year, delivered without compromise.

Way to Use
For Hair Fall & Scalp Health
- Root Massage (Targeted Treatment): Warm 1 teaspoon of Kalonji oil slightly (indirect heat only). Section your hair and massage directly into the scalp using circular fingertip motions. Focus on areas with thinning or flakiness. Leave it on for 1 to 2 hours (or overnight) before washing with a mild shampoo.
- Carrier Blend (For Sensitive Scalps): Mix equal parts Kalonji oil with wood-pressed Coconut or Almond oil to balance potency and provide deep strand hydration.
- Frequency: 2 to 3 times weekly.
For Skin & Acne Care
- Spot Treatment for Blemishes: Dip a clean cotton swab in 1 drop of pure Kalonji oil and dab directly onto active pimples or dark spots before bed.
- Facial Nourishment (Dry/Problem Skin): Mix 2 drops of Kalonji oil into your regular moisturizer or a base oil (like almond or jojoba) and apply gently over a clean face.
- Precaution: Avoid contact with the immediate eye area.
For Joint & Muscle Pain Relief
- Warm Oil Massage: Warm 1–2 tablespoons of Kalonji oil. Massage thoroughly onto stiff knees, shoulders, lower back, or sore joints for 10–15 minutes until absorbed.
- Hot Compress (Optional): Follow up with a warm cloth compress over the massaged area to enhance absorption and muscle relaxation.
For Daily Immunity & Digestive Health (Edible Use)
- With Warm Water & Honey: Mix ½ teaspoon (approx. 2.5 ml) of raw Kalonji oil and 1 teaspoon of raw honey in a cup of lukewarm water. Consume on an empty stomach in the morning.
- With Warm Milk: Stir ½ teaspoon into a glass of warm milk at bedtime for restful sleep and respiratory comfort.
- Recommended Intake: Start with ¼ to ½ teaspoon daily to allow your digestive system to adapt to its natural potency.
Important Guidelines
- Patch Test: Because pure black seed oil is active and warming, always perform a patch test on your inner arm 24 hours before your first full topical application.
- Never Boil Direct: Do not subject the raw oil to high cooking heat; always add it raw or warm indirectly.
Storage Info
- Cool, Dark Place: Store the bottle inside a pantry cabinet, drawer, or dark shelf. Keep it strictly away from direct sunlight, open windows, stove heat, and ovens. UV light and heat break down fragile bioactive compounds like Thymoquinone.
- Keep Airtight: Always screw the cap or dropper on tightly immediately after use. Exposure to ambient air triggers oxidation, degrading its natural therapeutic potency and herbal aroma.
- Moisture Protection: Ensure no water droplets enter the bottle or dropper tip. Because this is a raw, preservative-free oil, moisture ingress can shorten shelf life.
Temperature & Ambient Guidelines
- Ideal Temperature: Ambient room temperature between 15°C and 25°C.
- No Direct Heat: Avoid placing the container on countertops near boiling kettles or cooking stoves.
- Sedimentation Note: Minor micro-sediments settling at the bottom of the bottle are completely natural in raw, unrefined lakdi ghani oils and reflect single-ingredient authenticity.
Container Recommendations
- Best: Dark amber or cobalt blue glass bottles (protects volatile compounds from photo-oxidation).
- Avoid: Clear, transparent plastic containers left exposed to room lighting
