The Story Behind PIP Agro's Creamy Peanut Butter: A Craft Born in Pune

Our customers have been asking for a peanut butter made with a short ingredient list for a long time—and the wait is finally over.

To bring this recipe to life, we partnered with Grainy Day, a Pune-based enterprise run by Alka Tai. Known for their expertise in millets, energy bars, and traditional food preparations, Alka Tai and her team specialize in small-batch food preparation.

Together, we developed a custom recipe tailored specifically for our community:

  • Native Peanuts: Made using locally grown native peanuts, slow-roasted to bring out their rich, nutty flavour.
  • Sweetened with Jaggery: Sweetened with unrefined jaggery. Jaggery contributes added sugar; this is not a sugar-free or no-added-sugar product. Refined sugar, hydrogenated oils, palm oil and preservatives are not listed in the recipe.
  • Creamy Texture: Blended carefully to achieve a smooth, velvety texture without relying on artificial emulsifiers or stabilizers.

What started as a shared passion for food resulted in a rich, creamy spread that brings traditional ingredients into everyday breakfasts and snacks. Custom-crafted and made with care by Alka Tai's team in Pune.

Beyond the Jar: The 6-Month Journey Behind PIP Agro x Grainy Day

Launching a new product is never just about filling a container—it's about getting every single detail right. Our latest collaboration with Grainy Day, a Pune-based enterprise run by Alka Tai, is the result of over six months of quiet dedication, continuous testing, and shared passion for food.

Grainy Day has long been trusted for their craftsmanship in small-batch millet energy bars and specialty traditional food preparations. But when we decided to create a Creamy Peanut Butter with a short ingredient list together, we knew it would take time to meet our standards.

Six Months of R&D and Craftsmanship

For over half a year, our teams worked hand-in-hand through every stage of development:

  • The Custom Recipe: Perfecting the balance using slow-roasted native peanuts and unrefined jaggery. We went through countless batches to achieve a rich, velvety texture without adding palm oil, hydrogenated fats, artificial emulsifiers or preservatives to the recipe.
  • Packaging & Small-Batch Care: From testing glass jars and seal integrity to hand-labeling and stickering every single jar with precision, every step was refined through hands-on trial and care.
  • A Shared Vision for Innovation: Peanut butter is just the beginning. Through this partnership, we are actively conducting R&D on millet energy bars, specialty pastas, and grain products—combining Alka Tai's processing expertise with PIP Agro's focus on clearly listed ingredients.

When you open a jar of our Creamy Peanut Butter, you aren't just tasting local peanuts and jaggery—you are experiencing six months of joint effort, patience, and craft.

Benefits
  • Roasted Peanut Flavour: Slow-roasted native peanuts give the spread its rich, nutty flavour.
  • Jaggery Sweetness: Sweetened with jaggery rather than refined white sugar. Jaggery still contributes added sugar.
  • No Palm Oil or Hydrogenated Oils in the Recipe: The listed ingredients are peanuts, jaggery and salt.
  • Small-Batch Preparation: Crafted by Alka Tai and the Grainy Day team in Pune.
  • Smooth & Spreadable: A creamy texture for toast, fruit dips, smoothies and homemade desserts.
Ways to Enjoy

1. Smooth Morning Spreads:
Easy to spread over warm whole-wheat toast, sourdough, or freshly toasted rotis and parathas for a warm, comforting breakfast.

2. Smoothies & Milkshakes:
Blends effortlessly into morning banana milkshakes, protein shakes, or oats porridge without leaving heavy chunks behind.

3. Fruit & Snack Dip:
A smooth, velvety dip for fresh apple slices, bananas, or celery sticks.

4. Baking & Dessert Dripping:
Easily dripped over pancake stacks, warm waffles, or stirred into homemade jaggery-peanut snacks.

Storage Info
  • Store in a Cool, Dry Place: Keep the jar in a pantry or cupboard away from direct sunlight, stove heat, and moisture.
  • Natural Oil Separation is Normal: The recipe contains no added stabilizers, so peanut oil may float to the top over time. Simply stir it thoroughly with a clean, dry spoon before use.
  • Handle with Dry Utensils: Always use a completely dry spoon or butter knife. Introducing water or moisture into the jar can spoil the product.
  • Refrigeration (Optional):
At room temperature, the spread stays softer and easier to spread. Refrigeration makes it firmer. If refrigerated, let it sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes to soften before spreading. Follow the storage instructions and best-before date on your pack.
  • Stir Before Serving: Mix separated oil back into the spread with a clean, dry spoon for an even texture.

Everything You Need To Know

Q. Who makes PIP Agro's Creamy Peanut Butter?
A. Our Creamy Peanut Butter is crafted by Grainy Day, a Pune-based enterprise run by Alka Tai, in collaboration with PIP Agro. We worked together for over six months on recipe development and small-batch testing to create this smooth spread using slow-roasted native peanuts and jaggery.
Q. What goes into this peanut butter, and is it sugar-free?
A. The recipe contains peanuts (82%), jaggery and salt. Slow-roasted native peanuts give it a rich, nutty flavour, while jaggery adds sweetness. It is not sugar-free or a no-added-sugar product: jaggery contributes added sugar. The label lists 18.68g added sugar per 100g. Contains groundnut. It is processed in a facility that also processes wheat, soybean, mustard, celery, nuts and dry fruits.
Q. Does it contain palm oil, preservatives or artificial stabilisers?
A. No palm oil, hydrogenated oils, chemical preservatives, artificial emulsifiers or stabilisers are used in the stated recipe. Its creamy texture comes from blending the peanuts. Without added stabilisers, some natural peanut oil may rise to the top; stir it back in with a clean, dry spoon before serving.
Q. What are some easy ways to enjoy this creamy peanut butter?
A. Spread it on warm toast, rotis or parathas for a nutty, gently sweet addition to breakfast. Blend it into banana milkshakes, smoothies or oats porridge, or serve it as a dip with apple slices and bananas. You can also drizzle it over pancakes and waffles or stir it into homemade jaggery-peanut snacks. The label's serving size is 20g; choose your portion to suit your meal.
Q. How should I store it, and what is its shelf life?
A. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture. Always use a clean, completely dry spoon or butter knife. Natural oil separation is normal. Stir thoroughly before use. Refrigeration is optional and makes the spread firmer; if refrigerated, let it stand at room temperature for 5–10 minutes before spreading. The stated shelf life is 6 months. Follow the manufacturing and best-before dates and storage instructions printed on your pack; opening the jar does not start a fresh six-month shelf life.
