The Story Behind the Taste

Shaila and her team prepare every batch following age-old family recipes, taking the time to roast each ingredient over controlled heat before blending and shaping them by hand. The Story Behind Shraddha Food: Tradition Handcrafted in Karad
Great taste always starts with a story. Our connection with Shraddha Food began at an exhibition in Satara, where we first tasted a Ragi Laddu brought by Shaila Pawar. One bite was all it took to realize this was something exceptional. It didn't taste like factory-made sweets; it carried the deep, authentic richness of traditional generation-old recipes. Right then, we knew we had to bring these to our customers.
What started as a small initial order of 10–15 kg has now grown into a steady monthly collaboration of nearly 100 kg across a wide variety of handcrafted laddus—from Gond and Ragi to Besan and Dates-Dry Fruit. Across hundreds of orders, we have not received a single customer complaint.
Driven by Rural Women Entrepreneurs
Shraddha Food is a small, dedicated women's group based in the Karad region. Run by Shaila Pawar alongside 5 to 6 local village women, every single laddu is made by hand:
- Fresh Batch Cooking: Raw ingredients are hand-sorted, slow-roasted, and prepared in small batches to preserve freshness.
- Uncompromised Quality: Prepared using unrefined brown jaggery, pure A2 gir cow ghee, and high-quality nuts, seeds, and grains.
- Zero Machines: From roasting raw ingredients to hand-shaping every laddu, no heavy machinery is used.
By choosing these laddus, you are not only getting clean, rich, traditional food—you are directly supporting rural women artisans who take immense pride in preserving authentic regional flavors.

- With Morning Tea or Warm Milk: Pair a laddu with a cup of warm milk or morning chai. The richness of the cow ghee, nuts, and natural dates complements warm beverages perfectly, making it an ideal, clean breakfast side.
- Mid-Day or Evening Snack: Keep a few at your desk or in your bag for a satisfying mid-day or evening snack. The natural sugars from dates and brown jaggery offer a steady energy release.
- Post-Meal Sweet Craving: A healthy, portion-controlled option to satisfy post-lunch or post-dinner sweet cravings without eating refined sugar or factory-processed desserts.
- Crumbled Over Warm Porridge or Oats: Break a laddu into small pieces and sprinkle it over a bowl of warm oats, sheera, or porridge. The roasted makhana, seeds, and nuts add a wonderful crunch and natural sweetness.
- Festive & Travel Companion: Thanks to the natural shelf life of dates, jaggery, and hand-roasted dry fruits, these laddus travel well without spoiling—making them a great packable snack for trips, hikes, or busy days on the go.
Storage Info
- Store in an Airtight Container: Keep the laddus sealed in a clean, airtight glass or food-grade container to preserve their crisp texture and prevent moisture from creeping in.
- Keep in a Cool, Dry Place: Store at room temperature in a dry pantry away from direct sunlight, heat, and stove areas.
- Avoid Moisture & Odors: Always use a dry spoon or dry hands when taking out a laddu. Pure cow ghee absorbs nearby smells, so keep them away from strong spices or pungent food items.
- No Refrigeration Needed: Storing them at room temperature keeps the cow ghee soft and the natural flavors intact. If refrigerated, let them come to room temperature for 10–15 minutes before eating to enjoy the original soft, fudgy texture.
