Description
The Story Behind PIP Agro's Khajur Pickle: A Craft from Asha Foods
A great meal always calls for that perfect balance of flavors—a little sweet, a little tang, and a warm hit of spice. Our Khajur (Date) Pickle brings back the exact taste of slow, traditional home cooking.
To bring this authentic recipe to your plate, we partnered with Asha Foods, a dedicated women's self-help group led by Asha Jadhav Tai. Every recipe prepared by Asha Tai and her team has been passed down through generations within her family. Unlike factory-made pickles loaded with artificial vinegar and chemical additives, this pickle is made strictly using traditional techniques, patience, and wholesome ingredients.
When you taste this pickle, the difference is immediate: it doesn't taste like high-volume commercial preserves, but like a recipe preserved with care inside a family home.

The Story Behind Asha Food: Traditional Flavor, Handcrafted in Satara
True flavor isn't made on assembly lines—it is built in small kitchens through patience, tradition, and generational knowledge. Our connection with Asha Food is a tribute to authentic Maharashtrian culinary heritage, rooted right in Satara and brought to life by Asha Jadhav.
What began as Asha Tai preparing traditional recipes in her home kitchen has grown into a thriving enterprise powered by local women. Today, her kitchen provides meaningful employment to more than ten village women, turning regional culinary heritage into sustainable livelihoods.
A Legacy of Authentic Taste
From rich masalas to small-batch preserves, Asha Tai's team handcrafts a wide range of kitchen essentials for PIP Agro, including:
- Traditional Pickles: Raw Turmeric Pickle, Gauran Mango Pickle, and sweet-and-sour Khajur (Date) Pickle.
- Authentic Masalas & Chutneys: Heritage blends like Kala Masala, Goda Masala, and authentic Metkut.
- Healthy Festive Faral: Special Diwali treats made entirely with millets, A2 cow ghee, and wood-pressed oils.
The Craft Behind the Jar
In an industry dominated by commercial mass production, Asha Food sticks firmly to traditional roots:
- Handmade & Minimal Machinery: From hand-pounding spices to slow-maturing pickles, machinery is kept to an absolute minimum to retain natural essential oils and texture.
- Pure Wood-Pressed Groundnut Oil: Prepared using traditional wood-pressed (lakdi ghana) groundnut oil rather than cheap refined oils.
- Flawless Quality: Through years of working together—from her humble home kitchen start to today—we have received zero complaints regarding taste, texture, or quality.
When you bring home a product from Asha Food, you are not just getting an authentic, preservative-free taste—you are directly supporting rural women entrepreneurs who take pride in preserving our food heritage.

Storage Info
- Always Use a Clean, Dry Spoon: Moisture is the enemy of natural preserves. Never use wet spoons, damp hands, or fingers inside the jar, as introducing water will shorten the shelf life of chemical-free products.
- Keep in a Cool, Dry Pantry: Store the glass jar in a dark, dry place away from direct sunlight, stove heat, and sink moisture to retain the natural aroma of wood-pressed groundnut oil and hand-pounded spices.
- Oil Submersion for Pickles: Ensure the pickle ingredients stay completely submerged under the layer of wood-pressed groundnut oil inside the jar. The natural oil layer acts as a natural seal against air and spoilage.
- Keep the Jar Rim Clean: After every use, wipe off any spice residue from the rim or mouth of the jar with a dry cloth before closing the lid tightly.
- Refrigeration (Optional): Pickles stay fresh at room temperature in a cool pantry. However, if you live in a hot, humid climate, keeping them in the refrigerator after opening helps lock in peak freshness for longer.
