You Ask , We answer
Q.What does "Semi-Polished" mean?
A: It means the rice has undergone minimal processing. We remove the outer husk but leave part of the bran layer, which contains most of the fiber and nutrients
Q.Who is Gangaram Dhendle?
A: He is our partner farmer from the Kalsubai region. We source this rice directly from him to ensure you get a single-origin, authentic product while he gets a fair price.
Q.Is this rice aromatic?
A: Yes, it has a mild, natural earthy fragrance characteristic of Gavran (native) Kolam varieties, without any added artificial scents.
Q.Why is Kalsubai rice special?
A: Kalsubai is the highest peak in Maharashtra. The unique climate, altitude, and soil of this region produce grains that are more resilient and nutrient-dense.
Q.Does it take longer to cook than white rice?
A: It may take just a few minutes longer than highly processed white rice because of the bran layer, but it results in a much better texture and flavor.
Q.Can I use this for Biryani?
A: While Basmati is traditional for Biryani, Gavran Kolam is excellent for Pulao and Masale Bhaat because the grains remain separate and double in size.
Q.Is this rice gluten-free?
A: Yes, all natural rice varieties are inherently gluten-free.
Q.Are there any preservatives added for storage?
A: No. We do not use any chemical fumigants or preservatives. We recommend storing it in an airtight container to maintain freshness naturally.
Q.How spicy is it?
A: It has a medium, warming heat. It’s designed to highlight the deep, nutty flavor of the garlic rather than just burning your tongue
